It’s like I’ve stepped in gum.

Yes, I’ve pulled my foot away and I’m not gonna step in it again. 

But there are still those little stringy, stubborn strands that cling to me and bother me whenever I put my foot down to take another step.

But as time passes, and as I take more steps, soon the gum will lose its stick. It’ll just be a patch on my shoe that slowly becomes discolored and stops bothering me.

I can’t do anything about it right now. I’ve done the most important thing, which is pulling my foot out of this mess. All that’s left is to wait and take more steps.
